About Us

Simon Freyer Friedrichsdorf

Simon Freyer

What is now the Simon Freyer Master Workshop for Woodwind and Brass Instruments began many years ago with the passion and craftsmanship of its founder: Simon Freyer. With a degree from the Academy of Music in Darmstadt, classical training as a woodwind instrument maker and a master’s qualification in instrument making, Simon laid the foundations for a company distinguished by quality, precision and a passion for music.

Since 2004, Simon Freyer has been running his own workshop in Friedrichsdorf, where he not only carries out repairs and maintenance on woodwind and brass instruments, but also designs and builds handmade bassoons and clarinets in his master workshop – each one unique, of the highest quality and crafted with a passion for sound.

From the meticulous restoration of historical instruments and precise maintenance work to personalised advice on purchasing or bespoke instruments – the workshop is a trusted partner for music schools, wind orchestras, and amateur and professional musicians across Europe.

Today, Musikinstrumente Freyer is one of the leading names in the manufacture of woodwind and brass instruments, with satisfied customers from a wide range of musical genres. Thanks to its expertise, experience, traditional craftsmanship and ongoing development, the company continues to grow – always with the aim of delighting musicians with instruments and services of the highest standard.

Our history

Over the years, our workshop has grown and become a team of five people. Working alongside Simon are Nicole, Georg und Stefan. They are based in the workshop, where they carry out daily repairs and maintenance on the instruments. Elke provides back-office support in the areas of communications and marketing and ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Together, we continue to grow step by step, evolving alongside our projects and customers. Every day, the workshop becomes more and more what it is today: a close-knit team with extensive experience, a meticulous approach, and a genuine passion for the craft.
